Giving back to the communities we are involved in the delivery of our services...


We have a social responsibility to provide and promote opportunities for our employees and to reflect our involvement in the local communities in which we operate. As well as our own, we support our clients’ sustainability and social responsibility objectives by partnering them on voluntary community improvement programmes, charity events and social enterprise schemes. This has included supervising teams of volunteers to deliver a range of general maintenance, painting and decoration, landscaping and gardening projects, including the creation of a woodland walk for pupils at a specialist education school to learn about wild flowers, insects and wildlife as well as a sensory garden. 


Supporting local charities


Recently, our teams took part in the Freidman Festive 20K, a fundraising event where our teams raised over £500 for Ambitious About Autism, in just over a week by running, walking or cycling 20K.  Read more about this event here.


Creating local jobs for local people 

Wherever possible we always seek to recruit from the communities local to each contract location, and indeed support the local suppliers within these communities wherever possible.

Developing the workforce of tomorrow - apprentice, graduate & sponsored student schemes  


Freidman is a member of The 5% Club, an industry-led initiative which drives momentum into the recruitment of apprentices, graduates and sponsored students.  We have committed to raise the number of apprentices on formal programmes to 5% of our total workforce within five years – offering ‘earn and learn’ opportunities to develop skills and talents people need to create meaningful careers. We currently have multiple apprenticeships underway across a number of service lines.

Caring for our planet by reducing, reusing and recycling

On all of our contracts, we actively seek to reduce our carbon footprint, and that of our clients, by reducing waste, saving energy, recycling and using renewable materials wherever possible. We have been working with our clients and our waste partners on a number of our contracts to increase recycling levels, with impressive results.  Read more here.


Supporting the Armed Forces community

Freidman has recently re-pledged its commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant which seeks to support the Armed Forces Community, recognising the contribution and value the value of serving personnel, both regular and reservists, veterans and military families contribute to our business and our country.   

Taking action on domestic abuse

Freidman has joined the Employers’ Initiative on Domestic Abuse (EIDA), a growing network of large and small businesses which enable employers to better support their employees to take action on domestic abuse.  This includes raising awareness among all employees, and providing access to up-to-date, practical guidance and advice, services and resources to support those facing domestic abuse.
